Spa Practices Importance in History
Beautification originated in ancient cultures and was often allied with the practice of medicine. Earliest use of cosmetics has been traced to ancient Egyptians for use in personal regimens as well as spiritual ceremonies. A number of cosmetic clay, flower, herbal, fragrance and oils were created and used as facial treatments. The Ancient Greeks and Romans made lavish use of oils, perfumes and cosmetics in personal grooming, religious rites, and medicinal purposes as well. Water was used for healing through aroma and steam therapy. Facials, body scrubs and massage were all available at bathhouses. In Ancient China, grooming practices indicated ones status in society.
The practice of traditional spa experience in our modern society continues to improve and release the stress of everyday life as we continue to honor and respect our body's ever changing condition. The skin is our largest organ and thankfully has the power to transform and heal itself when treated with proper care. We all deserve to look and feel our best.
